If you don't like rack systems maybe you can get better solution then few types of individual glass tanks. Something where you can keep your temp and humidity right without to buy dozens of thermostats.

I didn't want to throw out that cabinet, so.. I just transformed.

Ive just always thought racks although nice, don't give them a whole hell of a lot of space to move around. Although im accustomed to corn snakes which are super active.

From what I understand the adults I got did live in racks, and the babies he had in tanks housed together by clutch.

I was going to read up on if it's unwise to leave them housed together, I've only put two to a tank, and actually I have 3 more tanks I could use, I'd just need more supplies like hides and stuff. So far it's sort of mixed opinion, some house them together regularly, others advise strongly against it.

Your set up looks amazing! I've got a nice tax return coming, maybe I'll look into something like that. I was concerned about humidity.

I have never ever in my life heard of an adult ball python cannibalizing another. There are reports of it happening with hatchling's but it's extremely rare and the dangers of it actually happening are way overblown. It can be stressful for some animals but as long as they're eating well (they should still be fed separately) and not losing any weight, it should be fine.

I personally prefer to house mine separately, but if I'm short on space at the moment I'll frequently put like sized animals together without any qualms.

I'm still new and researching, but from.what I understand -- housing some together although not "best practice" can be done safely and responsibly short term if there are enough hides, and the snakes don't show signs of stress/stop eating.

I can't find anything on adults eating each other, but I have come across 2 stories about hatchling doing it.

Mostly the concerns are about health issues and diseases, not enough space or hides, stress and animals that stop eating.

As I learn my way through ball python care/husbandry I hope to get constructive feedback on my setups. I've already realized that I'm not going to have adaquate humidity with a screen lid the way I have it set up now, so I'm working on changing that tonight. My goal.is to have very, very spoiled animals with top quality life.

There is a thread on this forum on how to foil treat your screen top. Did it with mine and worked great. Got more snakes now though and using a rack.
