My little girl is in a 36x18x12 cage with 2 large RBI hides and a water dish and that even seems smalls for her at almost 3ft long as when she comes out to explore, doesn't seem like much room. I agree with Rick, large cages are fine as long as you give them hides and keep the temps and stuff correct. People said the same about boas and I put my baby boa which was about 1.5ft into a 48x23x14 Pro-Line and she did fine. Now shes the sweetest 6ft BCI girl you could find. You just got to use common sense and put enough hides and stuff to feel secure in.

Too much space is fine if that space contains smaller spaces.

So using a bg space is just a question of filling it with plenty of hiding places, that way she has a choice of small places, inside a big space.

This is Correct; the smaller space they enjoy = hides. Her question was pertaining to the space outside of the hides.

Yeah...her comfort is going to come from the hides you provide and the husbandry you administer not from a small enclosure. So get whatever size enclosure you want to see her in and enjoy your snake.

Well, I have decided to keep the same tank. The 7 hour drive will be stressful enough, no need to stress her out with a new enclosure. Fingers crossed the tank fits in the rental car. As far as transport goes, any suggestions? I've heard putting her in a snake bag at your feet with the heater on low, or in a snake bag in a disposable ice chest (the foam ones) with heat packs?
