    He has multiple hides this is just where he chooses to hide. On the back side of the log is a leaf hide spot so I don't think its that plus he has a plastic hide spot but doesn't go in there

    There can be many reasons for a snake to prefer one hide over another. They will often choose the hide in the proper temperature over the hide that makes them feel more secure. Also the hide should be small enough to touch multiple sides of his body. They often feel safer in hides more on the smaller side over larger. Pics of your enclosure would help

    Or sometimes they just like being weird. Sometimes my snake doesn't lay in a hide at all.

    As a water bowl. Many breeders use this so they can toss the deli cups instead of cleaning hundreds of bowls
