Sorry for the crummy photos, but here's what I could before I felt like I was bothering them too much.

As far as the spider, by boyfriend and I think the little guy might not be with us. :( Upon closer inspection, the inside of his egg seems very dry. The spiders skin is sticking to the inside shell of the egg. No movement from him, and his head is nowhere in sight. We're gonna keep him in the egg box for now, though. Could it have gotten too dry and that had killed him? He looks exactly the same as he did when we cut the egg open a couple days ago. The rest look good, egg yolk is pretty much all gone.

We're trying to figure out what went wrong with him. It looks like his yolk is attached to the top of the egg, where we cut, but isn't the yolk supposed to be attached to the bottom of the egg? The egg is upside down, maybe? We marked the top of the eggs and haven't rotated them at all. We found this clutch within 12 hours of it being layed, but the eggs were not stuck together and had rolled around her tub, we picked them up carefully and marked them according to how we found them. Pretty clueless about what happened :(

I'm sorry the spider didn't make it. However the others look great, please post pictures when they are out of the egg. Congrats on the great clutch.

    Sorry for the loss.

Don't just put the eggs in the incubator the way you find them. Mom generally does a good job of keeping them positioned so the yolk is on the bottom, but obviously not always. Candle the eggs first before putting them in the incubator. Mark the top where the veins are clearly visible. Where the yolk is will always be darker when candling and you won't see any veins ;)

Thank you for the information. It was her first clutch and the eggs were all over her tub, she was wrapped around three of them in the back only. Wish we had known about the veins/yolk positioning.

It sucks that the little one didn't make it, but the other ones look great! Looking forward to more pics!

I'm not saying at all that that was the cause. People have purposely rotated eggs during incubation to see if it really matters and the babies have turned out just fine. I just like to give every egg the best chance possible by candling them before placing them in the incubator.
