Sorry to hear about this. :(

    All, good info here.

Just to add, remember that they can squeeze down like a mouse and get through a narrower opening than expected.

When you say large rat, I can only assume this is not a small snake, don't forget to look up, and not just under and behind things, you would be amazed at how some snakes can scale a wall with minimal things to touch or climb on .... If you have cabinets that do not meet the ceiling, look on top of them .... Good luck

    A big Amen!

    Mine is quite the climber!http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...3ea602e547.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...84cb8264d2.jpg

You can't see the attic door in pics, but it is ajar about 1/2 inch and my snake is desperately struggling trying to get to the opening.
I finally pulled her down in fear of her dropping 8-9 feet to the floor.

Very true. Last year I discovered the true need for locks on sliding glass doors. I had my male Burm slide open his cage door and he managed to knock one of my guitars off of the wall (situated fairly high up, and I know he was on top of them, he also broke a light fixture that was next to the guitar, and took a good fall to the floor.)

Where is the cage? On my fourth night of being a no owner (last week lol) my pastel escaped. I panicked and looke everywhere. I looked under my rack and tree she was balled up in the corner. It could have been bad as I have cats.

Check the wood part of your beds, behind washer/dryer, in the closets and if your closet is basically storage like mine, really check hard. Under dressers etc. may have gotten behind fridge or inside couch if there was a hole underneath. I'd even leave a heat pad out with a board of wood or something on top so he has a hotspot that you can find him on
