i think that may be it, as wouldnt a rack with closed sides be like a cave for them? nice and dark and secluded. both of mine have been on top of their hides but only for a little bit. i was watching a video and this guy pulled his tubs out and some were under the hide and others were on top. what kind of hide is it? i had to switch my naturalistic rock hide to a foam meat tray because the rock hide didnt give access to the entire hot spot whereas the square tray allows for complete hotspot contact. i caught her behind the rock. also, belly heat or back heat?
again im only 3 days experienced so dont take my words as gospel by any means.:D
Oh and I'm only like less than a year/9 months experienced lol. No worries.:)
It's always good to have other keepers opinions

These are all good points.
Even though mine is in a glass reptile enclosure, she must feel safe. She is 4 Ft long and the enclosure is 3 ft. Her hide is not a priority.
Yet when I let her loose in her room (think ginormous enclosure) she can always be found in the same small place hiding all balled up.
So I think space/security is a big issue for theses guys. :snake:
