I have a hygrometer inside the tank to read the humidity, and I have a laser temp reader I use for my beardie that I'm going to use.
So I got everything in the mail, and I was setting up the tank. And well, the hides are a big larger than I anticipated. My question is how much open room does there need to be in the tank? Like in the sticky post where he builds the 20G Long tank, there is a bunch of room between everything. My plan was to get the bigger ones and just stuff paper towels or something inside them to make them smaller so the snake will grow into them. But I don't know how much extra space I should have in it. I would think not having extra space would be okay considering having large spaces apparently stresses them. But with everything in it, it's a snug fit and not much room to explore unless they go over the hides.

I'm not sure about open space, my snake just goes over his hides anyways. We used to have a big branch that he'd climb on too.

Well, I have everything arranged around so it isn't even as bad as I initially thought. I have everything set-up now. The only things that I might have to do is adjust the dimmer between night and day for the temp changes in the room, and have to mist the bedding everyday or so to keep the humidity stable (Dang winter is drying out my house, I need to get humidifier I know haha). That and I might try to secure the heating pad to the glass more since the herpstat probe is causing it to bubble, I gave it a chance, but I had to turn it up to 94 and its not getting the bedding in the hide to 90-92 yet. But he will be coming tomorrow, so I'm going to see if he likes to burrow down into the bedding before I jack up the temp on the herpstat more.

Well, come to find out that the humidity monitor I had wasn't measuring it correctly. I realize now that it was probably because it was under the heat lamp, but now that I went with the recommended AcuRite probed thermometers with humidity monitor in it, I found out its been right all along. They sit on the front corners of the tank, and the only thing is that they read different humidity levels, only within a few numbers, so I don't know if one is off or I have two different levels in the tank. Anyways, I was freaking out over nothing with temps and humidity. Although I still might find a way to get the heating pad to stick to tank with no bubbles in it.
