I'm sorry for the long posts. Just wanted to set the scene and introduce to the forum kind of understand where my little guys at right now. As far as the feeding goes. Of course ironic enough he was half way done this monster rat by the time I was doone the post. He will only do live that's for sure. I feed relics well you can you this equation for any snake
feeding regimen. Adjust for different adult sizes and growth rate. Retic get 1/3 it's body weight in food every 2 weeks. Every weeks
is a guide line I use. I have done a lot of research on this. Much help with the book "what's wrong with my snake". So my
retic a month old was about 120 grams. So 1/3 is 40 grams. So
40 every 2 weeks. Pretty much an adult mouse a week will do it. Or alternative of it can take it. A small 40g approx rat every 2 weeks. Formula very easy
if the math does not bother you.

For my MALE Retic I use this:

hatchling until til large rats. 1/3 body weight every 2 weeks. So a 900
am 5ft or so Retic will get 300 grams bi weekly. Could be a medium at 150g weekly or a large 300g biweekly. At least until 1200 grams keep the 1/3.

6ft approx until rabbits/chickens whatever prey item they will use in adult hood: 1/4 every 2 weeks. 2000 gram Retic needs 500 g of food bi weekly. JUMBO rat bi weekly or large weekly.

Once ce the snake is close to a year old and getting too heavy for its current prett to be enough. You switch to 1/5 bi weekly once the change of prey happens. Or of still feeding rats. Use this at a year. Usually if you can obtain smalle 1.5lb rabbits they can move to them around 2500 grams. Or more. So an 8 pound Retic needs approx a 1.5 lb rabbit biweekly.

Once my snake reaches about 10ft I switch to 1/7 or 1/7.5. Whichever works bi weekly. A male Retic has done much of its length growing and should be a little over a year to reach this. So our now maybe 20 pound Retic will need 3 pounds biweekly
so larger rabbits. Also once there large some even like to go every 3 weeks or a month. Just adjust. So a 6 pound rabbit monthly would be just as good.

Finally once my Retic is over 2 years old. Maybe 3 you move to what it will eat always as an adult. Around 12ft I do this. Of course your snake will no matter what grow to their size their meant to obtain. All boods in captivity should eat about twice their weight in food a year. Technically it's 1/12 but until you feel they have reached full weight and length. I do 1/10th. Easier. So let's say you have a big 4 year old 14 ft 60 pound Retic. Just random numbers btw. Then a 12 pounds rabbit monthly or a
nice 6 pound bi weekly does the job;) it's that easy. Also I record my snakes
weivht, girth, length and feeding monthly or eventually every other month. Then adjust prey as they grow. I have found this to be a good and easy method of you really want to know
how much to feed. I always wondered about how much how often so I did a lot of homework. Of course a female wouldn't wven go to 1/7.5 until about 14 or so ft whatever the average adult is. I have never owned a female. And then once they are their massive adult size and weight and growth has slowed you slide up to 1/10th.

Anyway sorry for for the super long post I just really like to here feedback on this. And if you do the math. Most of you probably do feed about those amount. Good or bad I'll take it lol. Btw I'd like to know since I have a choice. Of its best to feed my Retic. Rabbits. Ducks. Chickens. ? Sure cuz of disease rabbits are safest. Hard to find many sizes. Cheap. Thanks for anyone that has read this and made it through lol. No more long post. Promise. ;) I am uploading my guy now.
