    I guess it depends on what "adverse effects" you're talking about. if it's scale rot, then high humidity will go hand in hand with a sopping-wet substrate, and that'll rot those scales off. I have never personally seen scale rot, but then again I never will, because I do not let my cages get too humid.

    Sounds like mine, too. As soon as I see the eyes go blue before a shed, I begin raising the humidity for that perticular snake. I have tanks with screen lids, and I just spray the inside glass and substrate down (it's cypress mulch) and put a layer of saran wrap over the lid (leaving a bit open for ventilation.) I have no trouble at all retaining humidity in this way during sheds. But as soon as the shed is over, I remove the plastic and let the humidity drop to around 50%.
