    So we switched to get the higher temps to make it better and he is spending all his time on the cool on now

    Get a laser thermo. You will be quite surprised at how wrong you were about tank temps. I sure was!

    Are you talking ambient or surface temps?

    An ambient temp of 75-85 is fine. Most also offer a hotspot that is around 88-90.

    This can be done with a bulb alone but a bulb can also create a hotspot much warmer than the snake wants even though the air temp is within range.

    You need to help us help you and not be so vague.
