    LInk didn't eat!
Hay man it's gotta be like cornish hen or something right? Would it be considered pork?

I think it's probably not very different from eating nutria, which apparently isn't so bad, once you actually try it. I've eaten frog legs, chicken and duck feet, goose liver, alligator, and mudbugs, so why not guinea pigs? Besides, I might find something to like about them if they're tasty. ;)

That's quite interesting, I dare say I'd try it at least once. I sent the link to my wife who recently purchased one of these furry pigs...we'll see how much trouble I get in when she reads it. These little pigs are bit more manageable than actual farm pigs...I used to raise hogs for FFA in high school...they can be just as entertaining!

What are mudbugs? I've had alligator tail, ostrich, and kalamari. Ostrich is so yummy...too bad it's so expensive. It's even red meat.

Mudbugs is Southern for crawdads / crawfish / crayfish, which are basically a freshwater aquatic cockroach. I've not had ostrich, but I definitely like squid. Calamari is yummy. Oh, and shark fin is good too.

They look like mini lobsters, and are probably related, but they have a completely different taste.

Besides, all shellfish, IMHO, are like aquatic cockroaches. Don't get me wrong, I love most shellfish, but when I start to think about how they are basically scavenger water insects (like cockroaches) it grosses me out and I can't eat it--which is why I try not to think of those things while I'm eating shrimp scampi!!

I've tried Gator tail and thought it was nasty (everyone keeps telling me it must not have been prepared right, so maybe I'll give it another try one of these days), can't bring myself to try Frogs legs, although I have had more than one opportunity. Ostrich is good, Bison is ok, Venison is too gamey for me, never tried Duck, can't do Calamari, but I love Sushi--go figure!!

    Mmmmm Sushi.

I didn't care for calamari, it was "too much chew for the taste" I've heard from other peple that the calamari I had might have been slighlty overcooked. Venison is ok, but it is kinda gamey. Goose is so greasy. Gator tail...well tasted like chicken. I've never had bison. I didn't care for the crayfish, at least not in the way it was prepared. It took a bit of work to get the tiny bit of meat out of the silly thing (which was looking at me as I attempted to get it open).

Caren, I have to avoid thinking about it when eating shrimp, lobster, or mudbugs, too, but they are basically cockroach-y critters, every one of them. And eating oysters or clams is like eating pale, salty liver, only it smells much worse. I agree with those who told you your gator tail was probably not done right -- maybe when you come up in a few weeks we can eat at Pappadeaux and you can try some good gator. I love sushi, too, or dim sum -- yum!

Schlyne, I'll bet your calamari was overdone. The first time I tried octopus, it was like eating rubber bands and was awful, and it turned me off octopus and squid for a few years until someone talked me into trying a bite of their calamari. What a difference! I've never had the opportunity to try bison, ostrich, or venison, but maybe if I start dating someone rich I'll get to make a few trips to Ted's Montana Grill and try them out.
