Feeding while in shed

I leave it up to Nags if he wants to eat or not. I've only had him refuse food twice, and neither time was in shed. I think what people are mostly worried about (in my opinion anyhow) when feeding a snake in shed, would be if the snake was in blue and you're feeding live. The snake can't see anything that's going on, and therefore has the potential to be injured by a prey animal that they can't see. That, from what I can see, would be the only drawback to feeding while in shed.

I have heard something about them maybe having the rolled up shed skin get stuck at the lump while trying to shed and it causing problems, but have never yet seen evidence of it. Only been at BPs for a few years though. I get really mixed results on feeding in blue, most of mine seem to refuse, but since I feed live I can just chuck said feeder back in the holding cage. Part of the reason I feed live. Doesn't hurt to try in my opinion.

I've never had any problems feeding during shed, even they have a large meal. I've found with proper humidity the skin just stretches around it, and I haven't found different results feeding at different times of shed either. I have seen evidence of a rolled shed after eating, but no other information was given so it's hard to determine if it was simply because they fed them or there were other issues.

That all said, I figure it won't hurt them to skip a meal so I usually prefer to just skip feeding them altogether.

I don't feed every week. I usually skip a week here and there anyway. Its good for snakes to have a small fast here and there (as they would in the wild). So if you feed every week then sure, skip it. Or - feed if you want. At the end of the day your snake won't eat if it isn't hungry.
