I feed live and in seperate enclosures for 5 BPs and it work well for me. Like most people already said, do what works for you and your snake.

Biggest myth out there in my opinion. It was started by well intending, but ill informed pet store workers decades ago and just refuses to go away.
It's bad for the snakes to move them for feeding. One it goes against their instincts. They are ambush hunters, so moving them is likely to throw them off. Secondly the stress is bad for them. Thirdly, if feeding them causes them to associate what happens right before that with feeding time, why would I want them to associate being picked up with feeding time?
Luckily ball pythons are hardy so many still thrive even when the owner provides them with less than optimal conditions.
