I got my first ball python at a friendly reptile shop in my city. My cat had died and I was looking for a new pet that I could spend time on that was a little less fuzzy.
Now I have 7 snakes so I guess I was bit by the bug, but my first ball is still my fave, he has the friendliest personality, and always comes to the front of his cage if he sees me as if to say hello.

i was never able to own a snake while living with my dad because he didnt like them, he wasnt scared of them or anything he just didnt think they made good pets. i was always out in the woods catching garter snakes and other reptiles and amphibians but was never able to keep any. after i moved in with one of my ex's in 2006 i still wasnt able to own one because he didnt want one, he thought they were boring, so i got myself a couple of hamsters instead, i lived with him for 2 years and we broke up, i moved down to SC with my cat and my hamster, after about a year my hamster passed away and i asked my bf at the time if i could get another pet and he said yes. i asked if i could possibly get a snake since i was never able to own one and he told me it would be alright. so we went to a local flea market and found a local snake breeder there and browsed his little shop, there were all kinds of snakes and reptiles there, all very beautiful, at the time i didnt know much at all about snakes so the prices of some of them shocked me a bit lol i saw a big enclosure full of baby normal ball pythons and said i want one of those, so i picked one out and the breeder sexed it right there for me, it was a little male, well he wasnt too little cuz i picked out the fattest looking one out of the bunch lol and i also bought some cage supplies there too. i named him Razor :) i had him for about 4 years, he was the sweetest little guy ever. then eventually i got more snakes, different species and another bp too. i no longer have him because i lost my job and wasnt making enough to support the 10 snakes i had so i sadly had to sell all of them except my baby burmese and retic, he was buying the food for them for me because i said i couldnt part with those two no matter what. my female bp i picked up shortly after the first male had escaped from her cage and we never found her :( shes the one in the signature pic i have, yes shes a normal lol i was devistated that she got loose. i was really sad that i couldnt keep Razor :( but eventually i was able to get more bps and decided to get my female mojave and male butter pastel. i still miss my first 2 bps.
Heres Razor

Lets see, it was my 16th birthday and that's all I wanted. My Mom said no, my Dad wasn't opposed to it. Well being a 16 year old, I did what 16 year old's are good at. I pitched a fit until I broke my parents spirit.
That was 8.5 years ago, and I still have my big boy Monty. He'll never be bred to anyone but he's the one who started it all and he holds a very special place in my heart.
My Mom isn't as opposed to it, although she thinks she failed somewhere while raising me. My Dad is fascinated by the hobby now, and we went to our first NARBC a few weeks ago and came home with 4 more....
My collection has grown from just the 1 in 2006 to 17 as of last week. But even though I have awesome morphs and Monty is a normal, he is still my favorite

It is soooo true that you can't have just one. I told myself I only wanted one, I got myself a beautiful little normal girl :) She was so sweet and docile, I immediately became obsessed :P I got her in early August, and then 2 weeks later I got a banana boy… then a blue eyed lucy girl… then an albino spider boy… so what started in August as one pet turned into me picking up my 5th ball python on Wednesday :) they are just too lovely to have just one.
