Congrats on your new little addition. If you are trying to post pictures, you must first upload them to a photo hosting site such as photobucket, and then post the image link. Or, you can upload a picture to your member gallery under the user CP in the links on the left of your screen. One other option would be to download the tapatalk app for your smartphone and upload pics that way. :gj:

As to holding your new little friend, I would refrain from holding him until he has eaten for you. I would offer him an appropriately sized food item on Thursday or Friday at the earliest. If he eats, wait a day or so for him to digest, then hold him. I would suggest short handling sessions for a while until he settles in, in order to avoid stressing him out unnecessarily, which may result in food refusals. If you simply can't wait to hold him until after he eats for you at least once (again, HIGHLY recommended), I would at least wait one week from the day you brought him home to let him settle in. Yes, it is tortuous. But it is best for your new addition, even though it may seem like the longest week of your life. lol.

Thank you for all the information but Ive just held him(oops). He seemed very outgoing and rather headtame for his first time. He didnt coil up or get in the strike position so Im assuming this is good...?

Umm, I have a hatchling that I got in August who is barely 1 1/2 feet. He never misses a meal and is, in my opinion, at a good weight. I don't think that 2 feet automatically equals 3 months old, or that 1 feet and some change = 1 and a half months. Size depends on a lot of things, including how much they eat, gender, and just the snake itself.

That is good with regard to his temperament. But now that you've cheated on waiting to hold him (:P), I would suggest holding off on doing so again until he eats for you. Give him a little time to settle in. Sounds like you have a sweet little one on your hands. ;) Now it will be twice as hard to leave him be! Lol.


And I completely agree, there is no exact age/length correlation. I have a couple snakes that are healthy eaters who are small for their age. Some are slow growers. No amount of healthy feeding will change that.

We were new snake owners when we got our hatchling ball in May, the breeder had literally just washed the goop off them. I chose her because she crawled straight into my hand while the others were all balled and ready to strike. I held her that day and every day since except for approx 48 hours after feeding (she comes out and asks to come out when she's done digesting) or if she is blue and/or shedding. Short sessions early on, now she just hangs out with me whenever she wants out
