I actually do both feeding methods, depending on what rats are available to me each week (if I have no live fuzzies, I am forced to tap into the frozen supply I have stoed away, that I euthanized when they were the right size.) Either way works. But the guts-exploding sounds REALLY gross... hope I never have to witness it myself!

Let me guess, you feed live? Well so do I, and am not worried what others think! The animal you are thawing and feeding to your snake WAS ALIVE once too! Does it really matter that you are not the one killing it? All three of my BP's feed on live prey, and none are the worse for the wear. Cleo got bit slightly once, but two sheds later, you can't find where. She is a much better hunter now, grabs them right behind the head and wraps low, so their mouth cant reach her. I am raising my own mice to feed with, and just built them a 'condo' for their environment to raise their standard of living. I don't understand why you all think giving them a dead, thawed critter makes their lives any better than fresh, self-caught meat!?!?!?

For me its plain and simple, It reduces the risk of injury to the snake , and reduces possible parasite infestation, Thus reduceing the chances of a expensive potential vet bill!! nuf said
