    Meet Teelo!
The hairless ones creep me out a little, but not as much as naked mole rats. Those things are weird. I got new rats today, too, though. I hope this time we won't have a psycho in the bunch.

There's a pet store out in Oakwood called Wildside, one of the top three or so for reptiles within a reasonable drive of atlanta, that sometimes has naked mole rats. Once I must have stood there in a trance for 20 minutes watching the darn things because they creep me out. :)

Odd I'm generally good with. Three-toed sloth? No problem. Duck-billed platypus? Bring 'em on! Mud skipper? Love 'em! But naked things that should be hairy or hairy things that should be naked are things that trip me out. :D

Fabulous name! Love the irony. ;) Now breed her to a Dumbo & make hairless Dums...they look like little people. :)

Good luck with your new baby!

Thanks K, hmmm, you gave me and idea... hairless dumbos, thats something I have not seen yet..... lets see, I could do it in....like 3 generations or 4 to get all hairless dumbos in 1 litter. Hmm, gonna have to think about that one. Wonder what the call for them would be tho, I hate breeding if ther is no one wanting them...

Yeah I thought the name was a great idea, mostly the irony... you know, you r the only one so far that got that...

I have 2 hairless rats, a boy and a girl and also a normal hooded female. They are all sweet as pie. I take them to my classes alot since I'm in Vet Tech school and people have to get used to seeing that kind of thing. I was thinking about breeding the hairless female, but I talked to a breeder and she said it's not recommended to breed the females because they have the tendency to not produce enough milk or not produce milk at all and kill the babies. She just said to get hairless gene carriers and breed them to a hairless male. If you ever produced hairless dumbos, I would definately want one. That would be the epitome of cute. :)

Oh gosh...I used to be into rats big time but they have such short little lives - about 2 maybe 3 years at the most....it was hard on me to watch them develop cancerous tumours and what have you - I had to have several of my rats put down.Very sad. And now I am into snakes and I don't know how I could have any rats anymore what with the reality of feeding rats to my snakes. It confuses me and makes me feel weird. Its like some kind of schitzophrenic sort of thing to have snakes and rodents as pets....I would feel really strange doing it....maybe its just me....

Hehe, you're right...dumbo hairless rats are cute. They sorta look like a nerdy big eared human...in a cute way. :)

Edit: Actually...this pic of Preparation H Raymond from Conan O'brien sorta resembles one. :)
