    At no point did you say the heat pad was not in current use. This is why I questioned.
    Also you need to either plug it into a rheostat or better yet a thermostat. You should not run any uth source unregulated.

    An additional question - If the water is treated and filtered as shown in picture, how often will complete water replacement be necessary? Also, when replacing the water do I need to completely disassemble and disinfect the filtration device? In my mind I was thinking that it only needs to happen once every month or so, or as soon as the snake defecates in it. When this time comes I would take all the stones out and rinse, drain all water, wipe sides with disinfectant, and rinse and disinfect filtration device. Does this sound right?
