Re: What hides are you using for large adults
We use an enclosed rack system and do not typically use hides. For the shy eaters we put a bunch of crumpled newspaper in with them to make them feel more secure, and have observed them eating more often with the crumpled newspaper.

I had some half logs, that came with my original tank. However I ordered 3 different animal plastic setups, and ordered appropriate hides from Reptile Basics. I have everything setup and ready for some new snakes. And whilst I haven't used the reptile basic hides yet, I can already see they are fantastic.

I was sick of having to 'fill in' the back end of a half log, with substrate, or be forced to back it into a dark wall, just in order to have my BP use it. (She's cute, but picky :P)

May have to order some of those from reptile basics. They look like they could help hold a little heat and humidity as well. Easy to clean looks like a plus also.

Another plug for reptile basics, I have a variety on hand to rotate through. Not natural looking but do the job and easy to clean.

I'm currently experimenting with 6 qt tubs for the bigger guys that are 1600+ and my 6 foot rat snake.

Are they in a rack system. after 600+ grams most of mine dont even need them anymore, Being there tub is a hide.

My racks are enclosed so no hides, but you can use cat litter pans for large females (by large female I mean 2000 and up)

My male that's about to hit 800g likes these all living things tree trunks from petsmart. They are a perfect fit for him it seems. http://m.petsmart.com/h5/hub?id=rept..._id%3D36-15102

I have offered him the half logs, caves, and reptile basics hides but he likes the tree trunks. Unfortunately for him I think he'll just have to deal with the reptile basics ones since he'll probably be too big for the trunks soon. :D
