Site Downtime/Revert

oh man, and just yesterday afternoon i made the comment that it had been a rough week, referring to the 2 previous incidents when the site was down. *smacking self in mouth* i just don't understand the thrill people get out of this stuff. but anyhow, thank you SO much to all of you who worked to get things back up and running. you guys are the best!

wow you lost 1 pm...lucky...I lost 4! and a bunch of my posts! so like people hacked on to the database and deleted and fooled around with a bunch of stuff?

BallPythonBabl448 .. they deleted the entire forum. We were able to get a backup that was ~9 days old.

all my posts are gone :(

Wow, so that's what went down at like 4am or whenever I came on the other night. It said "This board has no forums". Right away I thought "hackers". I'm used to this stuff from a wrestling forum I admin at. There's some stupid people out there that seem to get kicks out of using their "l33t hax0r skills" which involves downloading programs and messing with work that many people put a lot of time and effort into. I understand why some boards get messed with, but never would expect this site to be one of them. We're all so friendly here..I don't understand what would've brought it on.

Oh well, anyway, thanks a quadrillion billion zillion infinitillion for everyone who fixed the problems and got everything up and running again. Sure, we lost a weeks worth of posts, but what's done is done. Best thing to do is move on and give this as little attention as possible, since that's the whole reason people do this kind of stuff to sites.

Good job on patching everything up so fast. :D

I'm a student at ITT-Tech and last week we had a guy (a total idiot..hated by the whole school on the first day of class) that figured out the admins password and deleted half the school's accounts. Like the idiot he is, he got busted and tried to deny it. Bottom line is, he thinks he is leet and is the best there ever was, and i'm sure your hacker feels the same way..like he is a lil bad @$$. Well...Accounts at ITT Tech are restored, and the forums here are restored...could this be the same idiot???

What he's thinking:
"I'm so cool. i deleted their forums! look what i did! i'm a HACKER!! i figured out their password and did something so cool"

I had just registered less than 24 hours previous to the attack, and had to re-register. I'm glad it didnt take a massive amount of information to register like some sites.. haha. But I'm glad that things are back up and running again.
