You can get the heat tape pre-wired at Reptile Basics for like a dollar and its still going to be cheaper than a UTH.

Excellent point. I prefer the pads for reasons mentioned but this gives the OP many options. Certainly for large collections the tape makes a lot of sense in the value area.
