You had an 8 inch gap between the heatpad and the tank? Wow, how did you expect the heat to reach the tank? lol

You taped what to the tank? The heat pad? If so, don't expect it to stick too long. ;) Whatever's raising the tank so high up, just remove it. Usually you only need maybe an inch gap between the heat pad and the tank bottom for air flow. Right now, since weather changed a bit, my room got a bit colder so it's around 75 degrees. So to keep the temps up, I just slid the pad under the tank, and removed the blocks of wood I had to prop it up before. There's maybe less than half an inch of air flow space now. Keeps my temps nice.

Edit: Oh, didn't see your second post.(btw, if you have to add something to a post, just hit the edit button on your previous post so you dont have to double post. :))
Those temps should be fine for now. I don't like having my cool end drop 80 for too long, but for an overnight drop that's fine. I'm sure they'll go back up next day. Since it gets cooler outside, there's a natural temperature drop of a few degrees in the house, so your temps will probably drop a few degrees at night. That's fine.

62 at night? Are you turning off the heat? Does your air conditioning run more at night?
