Also where are you putting your probe? It should be in the tank over the heat tape(the glass separating the two). The tape needs to heat that spot to the temp you pick so the tape itself is gonna be hotter then the reading from in the tank.

False, no need for it in the Tank...

Theirs many things depending on which Tape you used to put on heat tape, aswell how much of the probe is covered.

IR temp guns are good here, because this reason, If you set to 88, and its 94! as other said set to 84 itll be 90* Aslong as this is a constant you wont have an issue, Sometimes the tape will run a little hotter, I had mine set to 89, and it heated to 95 on 1 of the ARS levels, so i had to change out the level, Alot is dependent of the heat, tape. (i had 7 diffrent strips where youll likely have 1 looped in and out) So just lower Herps temp and IR gun the tape to get your hotspot correct.

Why are you temping the tape?
You temp the surface that your snake can touch.

I dont temp the tape. But 6/7(1 unused level being 8) levels were correct and the 5th level was Way off due to heat tape error, So when I directly temped it, i could see there was an issue? As i have a Herpstat2 with top 4 lvls on power bar for 1 section and bottom 4 levels with other section.

Didnt think my eyes were lying. They why recommend something that is wrong and you dont do?

You always temp the spot your animal can touch. I dont care where you put the probe or how you wire. You never want the area they can touch hotter than recommended.

Here we go again with this..... IF you read the post, i say that i set my herp to X heat to get X heat on the hot spot... when 1 ROW of my Rack heat isnt correct, I measured the Tape/Heat strip (ARS has there heat tape in aluminum "plates/shelfs(iguess) ) And when it wasnt reaching the same temp as others, IT was Faulty, So i replaced? Nowhere did i say NOT TO Temp hot spot.... And If hotspot temp is wrong, Yes i will and should others Take the temp of the heat tape (if all tubs/husbandry is the same) Too see where the fault in tape is or if the strip is faulty.....

Maybe my no need for it in the tank caused you confusion because i did not word it 100% but it was a direct reply to PLACING the probe inside the tank, Which shouldnt be done due to water/urine/humidty messing with the hot spot.

This is again what I said

So maybe your eyes arnt lying, but your also not reading everything. Im done responding to most posts your involved in as you like to harass or try to belittle.

If this is so true you are more than welcome to have one of the Admins review my posts, I assume you know how to contact them.

And again as I have stated, you should temp INSIDE the tub there your animal can touch, NOT the heat source. There can be some heat loss so you want to know that actual temp.

And again i have said I Checked the INSIDE, temp and IF it is NOT hot enough I then CHECK the HEAT TAPE.... Please READ

AS i said, I have my Herp set to 89, And the one HEAT TAPE was reaching higher then wanted temps, because it was faulty, So then i temped it and realized it needed to be replaced.

Iv said to IR temp the HOT spot many times IN order to "tune" your thermostat to the required temp. So yes your eyes are broken.

Just because you have a green name doesnt mean you can belittle.
