We incubate at 88 with minor fluxes to 89 on occasion. The first hatchling came out of the egg today! Still nothing from the super or the boob. I opened the super a bit more and it seems that its yolk in the middle still needs some using up.

    UPDATE:

Sadly after a few more days and great advice from some other breeder friends we fished around in the eggs a little more only to find that both had died. The boob was a black pastel ghost, spinally kinked and the super black pastel was facially fused and had passed as well.

We knew the risks going in, but it certainly didn't make it less heartbreaking.

I wish I had something more positive to tell everyone.

    Sorry for the loss :(

Just for future reference..... We have cut eggs and had the fluid turn a bit "murky" outside the membrane. As long as you do not break the membrane inside the egg when you cut, the babies are isolated from anything that might start "growing". After cutting a window I generally dampen a small piece of newspaper or paper towel large enough to cover the cut area and place it over the window. The window will generally seal itself back over within a day.
