    Would it help if I sealed one side of the log? I could cut some old wood, nail it on one end. Would that make her feel more comfortable?

    Instead of giving yourself more work than necessary, throw some tissue boxes in there; black out 3/4 sides with paper (then you can push the half log against one dark side), or buy a couple cheap hides. You'll want at least 2 hides in the vive anyways - one for the warm side and one for the cool side. :)

    Yea placing the log against a blacked out wall would help with the back. Then in the front you can add a large clump of moss that will block the entrance from to much light but still allow the snake to easily crawl through it.
