Need serious breeding help :(

Just because he has the size and is capable of breeding, he may just not have the drive to breed yet, some males just take longer to get everything figured out than others.

It may also that one of the two animals is turned off by the other, pair them up with different male/females and they may both start breeding...it happens.

Since you said you know he's producing sperm, if that also means you know how to squeeze sperm plugs out of a male, get that out of another male and smear it on the females tail.

Misting them can help, but a nice drop in the barometer and a real storm is better.

Cooling isn't important, if you research different methods of breeding ball pythons (and there are plenty of ways to shoe this horse) you'll find out that there are a lot of breeders who never touch their temps all year and are very successful.

As for the every august girl, I imagine most females take a year off occasionally, if you've aquired her since last breeding season, it's also not uncommon for females to skip the first year they move to a new environment. Balls can be really quirky sometimes, especially when it comes to settling into a new home. If she lays consistantly in august though, she may just not be ready yet, looking at a calendar and backing up from there, it looks like late may/early june would be her prime time for being bred.

I am going to go ahead and state the obvious. These guys breed when THEY are ready. Not when we THINK they should. It's all part of owning and breeding. You can do everything right, follow every rule, hit every detail, play romantic music, give them candlelight dinners and wine, even put snake porn on the tv in their room, and it still doesn't mean they'll breed.

Once you know the environment is right, just pair them on a rotating schedule. Even if they aren't locking, I pair mine once a week. Three days the male is in her tub, then he goes back to his own tub and food is offered two days later. Two days to digest, then pair again. Unless the male locks. If he locks, once they unlock, he goes back to his tub to rest, even if it's only been one day. Most of mine aren't locking right now, even though this is my third season. So there isn't much to do but wait them out.

In my experience, most of my males haven't wanted to breed until their second year. Out of our eight males, only two decided to breed their first year. Having that problem with my super fire at the moment, actually. And I've tried all the voodoo juju in the book to try to get them to do the deed. They just go when they're ready. It's funny though. Their second season, all of our boys have been totally fired up!

I appreciate everyone's personal opinion, it makes me feel better lol!
