    All my temps are correct, it is just that the hide I have seen like that is for guinea pigs and it is quite tall. The heat lamp would be a about 3-4 inches from the top. I was wondering if it would melt/ warp over time from being that close.

    It's a hard plastic-like material (but I think all natural). It's totally fine. It breaks down by chewing, not heat :P I've been using it for several months and it hasn't changed formed.
    As I say to many people, our skin's natural temperature is often higher than the ball python's UTH (or what is should be - 90F). If that material would melt or what have you at 90F... then we wouldn't be able to hold it :P
