On that note: Get to a friends place or someone near by that has large constrictors and see just what it takes to work with them. I had a friend message me last night looking to buy a 10' snake - a retired breeder or something - he had no idea what he was getting into, and so I had to talk him down from it (he use to have a boa, and it died on him - and those things are sturdy as ever). . . moral of the story - many people get big snake fever, always best to side check yourself and make sure its really what you are after. Even with one large snake, get ready to be known as the man who always smells like urine . . . The output these snakes have in pee alone is just incredible. Its reducible by thawing food in the air versus water, but still takes a lot of effort to keep the area clean, and it may not always happen on schedule or when its good timing for you.

Again, go handle some larger snakes and make sure you're up for it. People think retics are like balls and just sit still... they don't. . . they are fast, and when you have a 16' snake that wants to get away, they will RUN and go where they want.. good luck

I got the bug just like everyone else I bought 4 balls in less then a year my next will be a boa. I'm fascinated by the bigger snakes but I know after seeing a fully grown retic it made me think twice about getting into something that size anytime soon. The one I saw was over 15 feet and had to be more then a foot round. I don't know what your situation is but in my opinion if I haven't had years of experience with "small" big snakes and I'm not permanently situated in a house that I know I'lll be in forever and with enough space for huge enclosures I wouldn't get a reticulated python. My advice to you would be to let your boas that you bought recently grow some more and find someone with bigger snakes that could let you handle them to see if that's what you really want for the next 20+ years

The first time I saw a full grown Tic it was honestly a litty eerie. I couldn't believe the size of their head, it was amazing! That being said I love these guys, but know that I could never care for a big guy. I have my eyes on a high percentage SD in the future, but not anytime soon.

i myself have 4 boas and my biggest is on medium rats. she is not big by any mean but many people thing she is at around 4 foot. I have a local pet store by me that has some bigger snakes and they had a fully grown male boa. I asked to hold him and to my surprise it is a lot different than I thought. the muscle structure that the 6 foot male had was insane. where he wanted to go he went. yes a boa is not as big as a burm or a retic but I am 100% glad I got these guys when they are small and I get to know them and learn from a 4 foot boa rather than a 8 foot angery female boa. grow the boas and learn from then then move up once they are a good size.
