Re: New Classified Site!!!
Great addition to the site. The layout is really clean and pretty easy to navigate.

We have pretty darn fast internet at home - I am on my home computer and run windows 7. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. But when I click on the link to go to the marketplace, my screen goes white as its trying to load, but just sits there and nothing happens. darn.....
It's loading slow for me. Really slow. I'm thinking "opening day jitters" is going on. :( Hopefully they'll get that resolved fairly quickly.

The site loaded great at first, but once I hit the back button, it stopped wanting to load.
It looks great though, very organized!
Now you've given me another site I can look through and see what I can't afford :P

Didn't think of that. I'm sure that's what's going on. I'll check in later! :gj:

Thanks Judy. Love the new site. Very easy to navigate and place ads. I had trouble adding images using Firefox (v28) but no problem with IE or Google Chrome.
Will we have a place here to make suggestions? One thing I noticed was the inability to upload pictures from the net...ie. photobucket. I had to upload the pics directly from my computer. Not a big deal, but would be nice to have the option. Thanks again! :gj:

Hey all, just had a chance to take a breath for the day, JLC gave me the heads up, thought I would jump in real quick.
Sorry about the speed this morning. Site traffic got the servers overwhelmed, we quadrupled bandwidth capacity after lunch and everything is loading quickly now.
Once you create an ad, you can make an edit within 6 hours. There has to be a fairly short limit, as in the past on other classified systems that allowed longer edits, unscrupulous folks would place an ad for one item, let it run for a day, then swap out the info for something completely different in a later edit. We are looking to avoid that.
JLC posted the ad level info, but here it is again-
Silver- 1 token, basic ad
Gold- 2 tokens, highlighted ad and seller banner
Platinum- 4 tokens, highlighted ad and seller banner, plus integration into The Reptile Report newsfeed and social media
With a token system you don't have to buy an expensive full featured account each year for ads you may or may not post. Spend $125 for 1000 tokens (or $250 for 10,000 tokens) and use some of your tokens this year, some next year, and some three years from now. No yearly account fees. Re-up on your tokens as you want, or need. Whether you have 10 tokens, or 10,000, you have the ability to place our most full featured and integrated Platinum ad (4 tokens). Small sellers have the same fancy pants access to full featured ads that the largest companies do.
We are pretty stoked about the Marketplace, the hobby and industry needs a modern, full featured choice for buying and selling. Today is our launch, and we have 1500 ads live across all categories and 140+ vendors registered already. Come check it out!

I got on just fine later this afternoon! I really like it!
Thanks for chiming in Robyn - I LOVE the concept of the token system!! Great idea!!

Tokens were Chad Brown's idea, and I think really smart.
There is also a ShipYourReptiles tie you can make to your TRRMarketplace profile, so every time you ship a package you get 4 free tokens in your account.

Thanks, it's one of those "nice to have but not required" things, mainly because I noticed a seller whose rep is so bad it precedes him.
Also, I noted that the checkout accepts AmEx, which is awesome considering the high transaction fees AmEx charges; understandably very few merchants in the reptile world accept it.

Re: New Classified Site!!!
The reason I choose fauna over kingsnake is because of cost. Probably be the same thing with this. With Facebook and fauna as free outlets, not sure I'd be willing to pay for it.
I get that if you pay more, you get a more guaranteed market share. But that's not a huge motivation to me personally.
