Looking at morphs to buy

Buying them all isn't something I could do even if I wanted. What line of axanthic tends to hold the black and white better? I'm still new at balls so I don't know much about their morphs.

All lines have good examples and browned out versions, if you plan on breeding I would suggest getting a VPI just because they are the most common, thus would be easier to sell. If you don't care about breeding, forget about the line and just look for the nicest axanthic you can find.

all lines of axanthic have the tendency to brown out, some are better than others due to line-breeding.

but adding the fire gene pretty much solves the problem. fire axanthics look really awesome, and from what ive seen, they dont brown out at all.

unfortunately, unless you breed your own fire axanthic, i think buying a fire axanthic may be really expensive.

Well. I'm willing to go as far as 300 or 400 hundred. But only cause these snakes live for 25+ years. The problem I find is that I'll find a site that lists lots of morphs or ones in their Collection but they won't show a price. Its frustrating when you're trying to do some window shopping

That amount will get you an axanthic or a butter no problem. What you see in a butter is what youll get. Axanthics will change and lose that color you love more than likely (baby Axanthic Pin is one of my all time favorites). As others have noted you need to locate a prime specimen of any line. Sadly none of the breeders can promise it wont brown out. Ask for pics of the adult parents though - doesn't guarantee if the parents arent browned out the offfsprong wont but it will increase your odds.

Personally with all that said. I'd go butter for your first. Then if you want another look at the Axanthic. You'll get to see the butter grow and get prettier as it goes never worrying if the snake you bought will lose its luster.

Welcome to the hobby. Be sure to research your breeder before your purchase and look up their reputation on the fauna forums if they have a feedback thread (boi). Be sure to post pics when you get him / her.

Thanks. That's the other end of my journey right now. I have to find the kind of snake I'm going to get first, then find a breeder here in Canada or some one who'll ship to Canada. Though I've heard that the customs fees can be pretty high. But searching is half the fun really. I find it helps you appreciate the animal you get more then just picking one out at the pet store.

Seems like I can't post a wanted add on there without paying $20 a month. Is there another place I can look?
