When to stop feeding every 5 days????

I've been feeding mine on a 7 day schedule since i got him 6 weeks ago. He's gone from 105g to 128g before feeding this monday. Also switched from live (his meals before i got him were live), and don't even have to zombie walk anymore (3 feedings now, throw it in, he constricts it instantly, still thinks it's alive i guess...) You guys are making me think i'm doing something wrong.....:O :snake:

Sorry about that! I have told both Matilda's and Phred's stories on here and sometimes forget to repeat that they are both resuces that were in horrible shape when I got them. Thanks! I can tell you that Matilda has gotten super strong! :)

Nope, I don't think so. :) Although that's not a lot of weight to put on in 6 weeks, I wouldn't say it's "wrong". We all do things a little differently.

I gauge my feeding based on my snakes appetite, I find that if I feed, and my snakes aggressively take a rat from me (i.e. Instantly striking once they notice the rat) I will feed again in five days. If it takes them a couple of hours to finally get around to eating the rat I drop in their tubs, I will wait 7 days until the next feed. This works great with my 5 year old male, however my 150g juvenile usually gets so excited to feed, that I'll even give him another rat in four days. So far they have been eating perfectly, and shedding on a regular schedule.

I say listen to your snake, if he seems hungry, feed him sooner. Just avoid over feeding of course. (power feeding)

I'm still kind of new to husbandry so take my advice lightly.

Also, funny story.. My juvenile was so excited last feeding day, when he smelled the rat, he shot up halfway out of his tub, and fell over xD
