Wait til tomorrow mid-day to hold him for best results.

yup, 48 hours minimum is the best rule of thumb.
i have yet to hear my bp hiss either. i guess it's possible that i missed it, but i really don't think she does. she's just a little sweetheart. :aww:

I think mine has become a little sweetheart too. Tonight around 9pm she came out of her hide to explore as usual. I'm glad, because I think it shows that she's getting acclimated to her surroundings. I was afraid she would stay in her hide all night after I bothered her this afternoon. So she went up and checked out all 4 corners of the tank to check for an escape route, then settled in on top of her branch, which is nicely wrapped and covered with a big leafed vine. She loved it. She sat up there for a while. Actually, she's still there, probably sleeping now. Anyway, my sister was there watching her with me, and then she said "would it stress her if I pet her?" and I thought for a moment, and said "well, I'll take the top off, and I'll pet her a bit. If she hisses, we'll leave her be". I opened the top, and she was coiled up at the top of the branch, with her head hanging down chilling. So I pet her a bit, and she was a bit ticklish cuz she moved her muscles all wave-like. It was cute. I listened as best I could, and she didn't make a peep. So I told my sister it's cool. So she slowly approached her with her hand, and was all afraid. Then she touched her and couldnt believe how smooth she was. She fell in love with Pelota tonight. ;) I think she hissed earlier today because she was trying to get some shut-eye in her dark safe hide, then I lifted it up and bothered her, lol. But when she's out at night, I think she'll be fine.
So anyway, things are looking good so far. My humidity is at a steady 60%..hasn't dropped anything below 55 yet. Temps are dead on at 83 and 93. And she seems to love the setup. So hopefully friday she'll take a mousicle. I think she will. My mom has her doubts. But I'll show her. ;) You think if she eats friday, it'd be safe to take her out for a short bonding session on monday? That would be 6 days after I got her, and I assume if she eats, that means she's pretty settled. I'm such a hypocrite. Always told people to wait atleast a week before feeding, then handle a few days after that. Then here I am rushing into it. Hope everything works out.
Damn I ramble. :(

my new snake is the same way, as soon as i turn the light out and leave the room little ruby comes out to explore and then when i come back in its ike she goes "Oh crap here he comes again, gotta hide !!"
-
Haha, yeah. Pelota was like that for the first night. She'd hide, then I'd leave the room, and she'd come out and explore. Then if I watch her, she looks at me as if to say "can I have some privacy here?!" then hides. But tonight she was all over the tank, and checking us out through the glass. She's getting harder to spook, so I think I'm gonna do well with her. And here I was all paranoid, thinking I'm not gonna handle this. Ah, the joys of being a father. ;)

man mine still hides when i come in and it has been 2 weeks but oh well he just has to get used to me coming in i guess.

Heh, (my) Ruby doesn't seem to care. She likes her little pagoda/warm hide quite a lot, so unless it's after 10PM she won't really be out anyway. Usually if she sees me she'll immediately try to bump against the ceiling of her tank like "Let me out, Mum, please?"
Vash is a demon to get back into her tank. She spends almost all of her time in her cool hide, but once you wake her and get her moving she hates to go back in.

yeah but at night time when he is already otu he makes a run for it when i come in the room. maybe he will kinda u know recognize me when i take him out today and let him stretch and slither about on my bed.
