    I use both Med cement mixing tubs and Lg cat litter pans, mixing tubs for breeding and litter pans for mom's and her pups. If you go with litter pans get the ones with ridges on the bottom for support. I had some without and the weight of the mom and pups made it bow and almost pull the pan out of the rack where it slides in. Here's a pic of my setup, 2 males 12 female's and 30+babies as of yesterday

    I personally used a 4' by 2' galvanized stock tank for grow out. I had several food hoppers and 2 water bottles. Worked well for growing a large number of rats to small and medium size but was a pain in the rear to clean. A small rack for growing out would be a lot easier to clean
