    Yeah.. I guess I'm just unlucky in that my cat (although otherwise awesome) has a high prey drive... and he's sneaky enough to know not to show it when we're around.

    I once left the rat / reptile room door open for a few minutes, came back, and he was on top of one of the big rat cages... Poor rats were traumatized huddled in a back corner. Took one female about 2 days to start coming out in the open again.

    When / if I can afford more sturdy enclosures that are sufficiently cat-proof, I'd love to let him roam around where he wanted. Until then though, the critter room is off-limits. Ideally, I'd like a basement that is big enough for a critter room and then a reptile room, but we'll see... Basements are virtually non-existent here in Georgia.

    I don't like the idea of rats in the same room of big snakes that eat rats. IMO
