Thanks everyone for the responses. I was shocked to hear of such measures only after a month of no eating so I questioned his (vet) knowledge on the subject matter. The reason I even took him to the vet was for the random brown belly scales and pink tint (which my first thought was shed). So the vet disregarded my concern and focused on Yoshi not eating.
i will post pics of him tomorrow since he's had such a rough day today:( and I figure out how since I'm new to the forum

if your snake was dehydrated, I would of done 15 min soaks a day, instead of shoving something down it's throat. which would cause even more stress. the age and size of your male and this time of the year is very common for a male not to feed. get him setup properly and leave him alone to settle in. pics would help to determine his condition.
