Here is a reality of Ball Pythons... In the wild they most likely breed every single year of their lives... That is not to say that they will produce every year... A female will only produce if she is ready to. It takes months of building follicles before ovulation to happen and fertilization can only happen if the female ovulates. Her body can reabsorb at any time up to ovulation. I personally have only had 2 females ever get egg bound. One was a proven breeder that was around 2000 grams and the other was a first time breeder and was just shy of 3000 grams but have had clutch after clutch from first time breeders at around 1200 grams.
