Re: So after thinking about it for a few months
I'm fairly new to T's, and really only know about the two species I have. So not sure what kind of cage set up you will need. I can tell you, that when it refuses food, don't offer again until it molts. And then you need to wait a week for slings, fangs to harden back up before offering food again. And I think a bit longer for adults. When mine don't act like crazy, never fed little spiders, I know a molt is coming. Seems they usually refuse 1-2 weeks prior to the molt. They are a hoot to watch, I love them. Congrats! Also, 3skulls here on the forum is the resident T expert. :)

If I'm not mistaken, Mike 41793 knows a bit as well. I've only just started considering a T, and I'm CERTAIN it's not happening until I have my own apartment.

Yes, Mikey is full of info too. But he's not around much anymore. Come to think of it, I haven't seen Rich in awhile either...

congrats on your first T. many more to come i'm sure :P 3skulls and mike are both very helpful when it comes to tarantulas and many other subjects. if you have questions or concerns heres the link to the ongoing tarantula chat here at bp net. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...piders/page383 as for your Brachypelma vagans (mexican red rump) being aborreal.... wrong answer. they are terrestrial. normally Jamies tarantulas is pretty spot on but if thats the kind of info she's giving out then maybe I need to reconsider my opinion.
