Er... I'm a "boa person" but I don't really want to eat the medium or large rats, or even the jumbo retired breeders. My boas get those.

Now the rabbits OTOH are awesome in the crock pot. :P

My biggest female BP's will take a f/t medium on occasion, but the ones that are live-only never get anything bigger than a small rat or large ASF.

I have balls that eat retired breeder rats! giving them a small rat is a waste of their energy!

I have two normal females that are huge, and they both get large rats every 10 days. They always come up at me trying to get their food. One is five years old, and one is twelve years old. I think it has to do with the ball. I have a seven year old ball that still eats small rats, and I have a two year old female that eats mediums. So again, I really think it comes down to each individual ball. Just like some are mousers and will never eat anything else, some can take large rats easily.

She is probably building IE preparing for breeding.

While my adult females are on breeding feed mode and jump out of the tub for food I will offer a F/T large rat (usually a young 1-2 time breeder female that was a bad mamma). I would never offer anything alive over 120 grams or so. As long as the F/T is smaller than your Bp at her widest point (and she is not overweight/fat) she should be able to take it down just fine. You can feed too small also. I have had Bps of all sizes refuse a prey item because it was too small. I agree with cold blooded addiction that too small=waste of energy and some Bps wont bother with it. I offer all my pythons weekly unless they are in blue, then I don't bother.

Oh, I rarely feed live, and only to those few balls that get picky. I've got most of my adults trained to eat f/t now. I put the prey item in front of their hide before I go to bed and by morning it is gone. I'm too scared of one of by balls getting eaten up to just drop a live in there and walk away. I feed live to my hatchlings only long enough to get them to a nice healthy weight so I can start the transition to f/t. I only have a few adult BP's that force me to feed them live from time to time, but for the most part I've got my adults trained to where I can just lay down the thawed rat in front of their hide and it be gone by the time I wake up. I have one pastel female and one lesser female that I have to wave the rat in front of them for them to eat, but the rest just pick it up off the floor after I've gone to bed.

A large rat may be a bit much but its not really a big issue. It does sound like she is putting on mass for breeding.
