OKAY, he keeps me wierded out...Tonight I said, "no more caps, but no signs of shed, let's see how he handles." Took him out of his hide (he is more on his cool side now with temps outside reaching the 105 range here in So. Cal) and he handled great, crawling all over me, no defensive reactions. My fiance held him for the first time tonight. I was very proud of her.

My warm side of my tank gets above 90, around 92 sometimes, and the cool side is around 87 which he likes that side more right now. Humidity I have kept high because I saw the cloudy eyes. Should I try a soak? If I were to do that I was thinking about using the bath tub. Runing a little bit, letting it sit for an hour or so to assure room temp, and putting him in, carefully. Or soaking a towel in the tub, and getting all the water out of the tub except the wet towel, and putting him on that. Which should I do?

The cool side is way too warm at 87 degrees. It should be somewhere between 78-80 or so. The reason he likes it so much is that its the coolest place in a very warm tank. He's trying to thermoregulate but with 87 as the temp on the cool side he cant. I'd definitely try to get it lowered. How are you heating the tank? What are the temps like in the room where the tank is?

Sounds like a situation with a bp in a tank thats too small. Temperature gradients are very difficult to maintain in a small enclosure.

Actually, going to do a correct measure of the cool side...so I will post on that. 87 is about the highest it is in the middle of the tank. Warm side is low 90. Temp in room is usually in the low 80s. An example, with the other day of an outside temp of 104 degrees, I ran the air conditioner all day (central air, upstairs apartment) and the coolest it was was 85 in here (which is what the digital readout says, which is about the same distance away from the Air Conditioner grate as the snake cage is. I have a 30 gal terrarium. I will measure the cool side today, my guess is that it is about 83-84.
