I would think it's fine unless you like cold a lot more than most lol if it's comfortable for you than its probably fine, otherwise just don't do it for extended periods of time and not everyday

Keep an eye on humidity. Set your tank with a heat bulb and a UTH mat..u may have to mess round with diff bulbs and ways to get a happy medium of heat and humidity, can be a pain. With that, you should be perfectly fine.. I recently upped the wattage on bulbs in my tank and changed up a few things and well I found my snakes out of there hides 75% of the day, the past 2 days..thought I'd see how they reacted to a hotter tank. well they hated it. went back to my old way ,the prior set up and there back to normal."mine prefer it warm in the tank as opposed to hot,82-86 warm side is what they like with a UTH matt set at 90/91.

Update: So I purchased my snake today. I received a 20 gallon long, heating pad, heat lamp, and everything in it for 60 bucks!

    Stats:

    Warm side: 86
    Cool side: 77
    Humidity: 46%

I'm worried though because while I was given a heating pad, the guy didn't have a thermostat. So now I'm scared to keep my heating pad on until I get one. Btw should I purchase a thermostat online or can I find one at a store? I would rather not wait.

Also, I guess I can't really hold my snake if the ambient temperature is too cold in my apartment?

I put tin foil overtop my mesh screen lid when the humidity gets low, it works out pretty well. I also have a small humidifer purchased from Walmart for around $20 (if you're finding it too difficult to keep up humidity - keep in mind substrate like aspen and paper can dry out the vive as well). I have heard of putting damp towels overtop the lid too, however for myself I feel as though being next to a red bulb it is a fire hazard. Just be cautious putting anything next to a heat source like that.

Your skin's temperature is well above that of the surrounding area, and even your snake's hot spot, so having her out with your shouldn't be a problem. I would keep away from any drafts, though, just in case it is uncomfortable for her.

    I use this thermostat: http://www.amazon.ca/Jumpstart-Digit...art+thermostat
(If you are in the USA it might ship for free, too).

    Best of luck to you!
