I just picked up a 100% axanthic female for a good price, to go with my spider 100% het. Reason being... I don't want to buy a visual, I want to produce my own....
I wouldn't go 66% too risky for me personally. ;). And yes I know I'm not guaranteed the first clutch is gonna give me one... but I'll be ecstatic if/when one hatches out! :)

When you are talking about possible het Pieds, it's pretty reliable to pick out animals with markers. Every possible het with markers I have produced and kept track of has proven het.....nearly 10 years producing Pieds, het Pieds, Pied combos, and het Pied combos. Some people know what to look for, take the risk, and hit the odds......others pass it up and let someone else win. Either way, het Pieds are very affordable now so why not take the plunge?

Just wondering, how would you identify those markers? Would they be on the belly? I want to learn how to identify het Pied.

I bought a 66% het pied from a friend but she has strong markers so I felt the risk was worth it. However she was just big enough to try breeding this year so hopefully I'll be able to let you know if/when she has babies hatch on my odds.

The hearsay I have is het pieds with markers prove out. Haven't heard of any that haven't proven out yet. Key word being 'yet'

(just read the rest of the thread so what I had to say has already been said ^-^; )

Agreed on the het pied markers, but unless you feel REALLY confident about picking out quite subtle variations I would pass on 66% het clowns and hold out for 100% hets.

Its like everyone has stated. Its a personal choice to gamble. No matter how you look at it its a 66% chance. I purchased my 2 66% hets from a reputable breeder and know its gamble even then. I chose to take the risk because I know even if they don't prove out they still have a good home and always be welcome in my collection.
