Switch to rats right away..yeah rats are gross,lol..I switched my guys over right away,as soon as I found the spot near me where I could get rats I started them. My ghost switched first feeding,no problems. My black pastel, took a few times, but he finally switched over..I switched both them over when they were about 2 months..the quicker u do this the easier it will be. Mice only get so big and constantly feeding multiples will be a pain,IMO. One rat at the right size is easy.

I used to have pet rats, they were actually nice pets but now I have to see them as a prey item for my snakes.

My bee was being fed on rats, due to a defrost issue he had a mouse first feed with me and the following feeds went onto rats again.

My spider boy has just went from mice to an appropriate sized rat without an issue too which I was thrilled about. The bee and my spider are my best eaters.

The only issue with mice really is feeding multiples later in life (although you're already feeding multiples now) so I think it is more for our ease. I have known people with mousers who are just as big and as healthy as their rat eaters though. It's just something a lot of people recommend more for ease :)

Glad he ate for you with no issue! :)

I look at it like this, if you can't get rats then u have no choice but to use mice..but if you can get rats, then feed them rats and forget the mice. I actually felt a bit bad feeding this rat to my snake today,,he was cute and so mellow, when I picked him up he didn't squeal, when my snake grabbed him he didn't squeal. I actually think my snake my have broke it's back, cause after the constriction, the rat was lifeless in about 10 seconds, weirdest thing I seen. Yeah I actually felt a bit bad,but I look at them as food and cant let myself think other wise. I just remember this is what there bred for. There also was a rat 2 weeks ago that seemed cool,I had him for 3 days before feeding my snake,so non aggressive mellow and always sleeping,he looked so cute, but again,I just remember there feeders
