So still no luck with this guy as far as eating food right away, I can't ever see him eat so judging what to feed is hard.

If i leave 2 large warm pinkies (ft) in the tub they will be gone 20 min later usually...

The gf just caught the little guy mid-eating one of them and as soon as she looked in (probably 2-3 feet away from his tub. He spat it and started hissing...

    Thoughts? super-shy?

Interesting - my male is almost the same way. I have to put his f/t mouse hopper under his hide with him, and check 2-3 hours later.

I think my BP's have corrupted him - he will fast for 2-3 weeks for no obvious reason also.

Mine never grabs her meal off tongs or strikes it while I watch, I stick her and the mouse in a little container in the cage, so she doesn't eat substrate and so she stays on task, cover it lightly with some paper and she crawls out once she eats. She was a little fussy about eating the first year but now seems to have settled in and is 50+ grams currently. So I wouldn't worry too much about a shy eater.

My male hog has grown out of the finicky eating phase but hasn't grown since last year. He's 100 grams but he only likes a pinky every weekend. From what I know males are picky and females devourer anything in sight.

Firstly, he was eating before, he will eat the same thing again - no need to confuse him with different sights, smells, approaches. Secondly, don't overwhelm him by offering every day. If he hasn't lost much body mass you are fine offering every 5-7 days as usual. I suggest starting a new thread, you kind of hijacked this one, and seeing if you can't get some more feedback there. Make sure you list the setup parameters with temps, humidity, lighting, feeding schedule/routine, etc.
