    Re: Help-dog and snake?????????
My cat and dog don't care about my snake. They are very curious when I feed her because of the rodent but otherwise leave her alone. If I'm handling her they stay back. My dog I have had to teach snakes are bad because of rattlesnakes in my area. She's too darn goofy to understand my girl and rattlers are totally different. So she isn't allowed around her. My cat looks at her and goes to sleep. My outdoor cats don't even mess with her because she has my sent on her and they kill rattlers. They also don't mess with pet rodents because they have my scent and I will pop tem on the but to get their attention. Ive never had a problem but I also keep an eye on the situation. If the cat or dog are showing too much interest them my girl goes back for her protection.

My shih tzu has gotten into confrontations with my beardie through the glass, both animals were defensive and stressed. I don't let her in my room unsupervised now. Although she has learned that the reptiles aren't a threat and will generally ignore them, the couple times were enough to encourage me to keep them separate. My yorkie is curious about the snake, but also terrified, and I don't want to take the chance that the dog gets too excited and harms the snake. Best to just keep them apart.
