I'm up every night till 6am. It's just been my odd sleep schedule for a while now. Which is why I think it'd be perfect to have a nocturnal pet such as the ball python. I'd be up with her lol.

I don't think reptiles are very popular as pets in Asia... although they are much more popular as food.

kraniumz: Given the humidity in Malaysia, you could probably use an aquarium with a screen lid without having to worry too much about humidity (although you still have to make sure your ball python doesn't rub its nose raw against the screen). Given the temperatures in Malaysia, which are high enough and fairly constant, you might be best off just finding a room in the house with good temperatures (80-90 F) and just provide a cool hiding spot for your Ball Python.

Keep in mind that in North America, where the climate is a lot different than the Ball Python's natural habitat, we have to do a lot of different things to help get the ideal conditions for our Ball Pythons. In Malaysia, where the climate is pretty close to the Ball Python's natural habitat, you might find that different methods may work better for you. Pretty much, as long as one end of the enclosure is around 90F and the other is around 80F, and humidity is high enough (60 normally, 80 during a shed), it doesn't really matter how you get it that way.

A lot of people do quite well with coconut bedding, so you can give that a try. Also, make sure you have something for your ball python to hide in at both the warm and cool end. More hides in between doesn't hurt either.

elevatethis: Reptile pets has only been recently established officially, meaning well reknown petstores are now stocking them. Supplies are know easier to locate. Whereas before you will need to go 'underground' to look for one. This 'undergroud' dealers were ofcourse poachers and such. They often capture animals from the wild and their captures are not just meant for pet keeping, most are sold for delicacies. The goverenment here are coming hard on them hence the need for the dealers to establish their business legitamately.

cody: So are they really active at night ?

hhw: Ur spot about reptile in Asia. Have u worked in Asia before ? Anyway, i guess i give it a trial and error, and see how things go.

Thx for the info guys. Really appreciate your inputs!

Yes kraniumz ... they are nocturnal creatures. I hardly see any movement during the day, but when i'm up at 2am or so ... active as all can be.
