Gonna get a corn snake (Need Advice)

I don't really see what what the UTH is so needed. I've had my BP for two months now and I have only used heat lamps. He eats great and had never regurgitated. I've heard that a lot of breeders just decide to heat the whole room to proper temps rather then use anything and they still become successful.

Advice?
Feel free to use half log hides (they aren't worth the extra cleaning to me personally) but, add in some "cave" type hides and maybe some fake leafy cover. Young corns are pretty timid (although get ready to laugh when they bluff and try to convince you they are a rattlesnake).
Also the gf's kids corns seem to really like to climb.

I think UTHs are needed because the air temperature required for corns is much less than for ball pythons, and so it would take a lot more to heat the bottom of the cage than is necessary/required for the corn snake.

I went for a couple of weeks with just a lamp because I was waiting for my thermostat to come in. Although my corn never regurged and her warm side stayed around 7-80F, she wasn't as active as she normally is. With a tank that size, to get a bulb that would get the warm side to 85F where it should be, it would heat up the entire tank too much I think. Corns need about a 10F difference from one end to the other, just like ball pythons.
But it's just a suggestion!

I will warn you though that on that corn snake forum I posted earlier the majority are against using lamps as a heat source :P

I'm gonna buy a temp gun or something like that in the expo and use the heat bulbs. If they don't work out I'm gonna go to my local pet supply shop. They have UTH there. Thanks for all the help guys :D. I'm gonna make a new thread and post pics when I get he/she tomorrow. I can't wait for it lol
