I am respectful of the debt they incur by going to school, but on the other hand... people have to be able to pay the fees or they are still not going to get out of debt. If no one can afford vet care less pets will be had.
    Its all a cycle.

Lol, lack of funds for healthcare never stopped anyone from having babies, so I doubt the pet industry is in for a total blow. It is all a cycle, but remember you are part of it...try negotiating the cost...we are all capitalists after all. If all else fails then yes, get another vet, you are a consumer and have every right to.

    respiratory infection question
I've lost 2 snakes now to RI because I didn't know what to look for in a vet. and still do not have access to a vet that knows reptiles.

I do know now that I would never take my snake to a vet who prescribes antibiotics without doing a culture.

Usually if the vet outrageously overcharges a service is because he just doesn't want to do it. Its to discourage the pet owner. No culture should be $900 regardless of school debt.

$900 is ridiculous. I suggest looking for a new vet.

I suggest stopping the baths. That's just extra unnecessary stress on him.

Nebulizers are good. Maybe try the F10 nebulizing treatment by BHP if you can't find a good vet for a reasonable culture. Its good for minor RI and it won't hurt to try. But I still encourage you to do a culture.

I agree the vet is ripping you off also I agree F10 from BHB works well.

    Apparently F10 *can* work.

Again, I'd imagine it depends what pathogen exactly is causing the RI. It did nothing at all for my snake when she had it.

Wish I had a vet that knew what they were doing. Because like I said, all the screwing around with meds and alternative treatments is what killed my poor Lemon :(
