alright, now were getting someplace.
for starters, the rock in the chinsy diagram is not a heat rock, its got a nice rounded and rough surface, and a smoothed geode core . . . looks pretty cool.
i think i'll leave the temp, and humidity meters where they are for now, and try to get down to walmart asap to pick up that acu-rite model.
as far as a hide on the left (under tank heat-padded) side, he uses the ladder as i have woven fake vine like plants through it, but i'll add something more when i get home.
the water dish is a rounded rectangle tupperware container. i read somewhere that if you cover half, and put the covered half over an under tank heat source it will create more humidity at that level of the tank. mitch has no problems getting in and out of it, but if the towel trick boosts my humidity enough, i'll lose the cover for good. he also likes to push the water dish aside, and curl up between it and the left side of the tank . . . think thats telling me he wants a hide there?

Yes, he definitely needs a hide there. And where you put the water dish just depends your humidity. If you need more, put it over the heating pad. If not, put it in the middle of the tank. Welcome to the site!

a quick question about the acurite digital thermometer you are talking about--i'm going to run to walmart tonight and get one for my bp set-up too since i only have analog gauges right now. i'm just wondering if anyone knows if the acurites are in the same section with outdoor thermometers and stuff or if they are in some other specialty section--i hate wandering around walmart searching for things. (and sorry, i know it's a bit of a stupid question.)

how many people......
The acurite are in the same section as outdoor thermometers ...
The acurites are a grey color, that show indoor and outdoor/humidity... (w/probe) ...
