Sore?

Have you assist fed? Like everyone else said .. it could be a broken tooth or mouth rot. What kind of enclosure do you have? Do you have anything that the snake possibly could have rubbed up against and irritated the side of its mouth? I'd say it could be nose rub, but its not on the nose. Either way, definitely looks like a vet trip to me. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I haven't assist feed myself, the moronic pet shop I got her assist feed her ... I'm using a 10 gallon tank, with a hide I bought from Petco (warm side) a hide made from a small card board box (cool side) and a reptile dish in the middle ... There isn't anything that I could imagine her rubbing her face on ... when I handle her shes always being held in my hand ...

What if she ends up having a broken tooth, will she eat? What will happen to her?


I'm also planning to show this converstaion to the reptile shop I bought her in. If you guys don't mind.

The tooth will eventually regow, i would be more concerned about a possible infection around the broken or impacted tooth. The vet should be able to tell you one way or another.

If it does turn out to be an abcessed tooth, the vet will probably give a shot of antibiotics and send snake-poo on his way. While you're there, ask for some chlorhexadine rinse, they use it for dog's and cat's mouths during dentals, so it's safe. You can take a Q-Tip, dip it in the solution and put it on the wound(if it is an abcess). It's great for just a mouth wash, or for getting all the nasty pus-like stuff out of it. Have you tried to open the snake's mouth to see it more clearly? Or lift up his lip? Well, anyway, have fun at the vet :)

OK. That looks exactly like what Jojo had but it was on his lower jaw. If it is mouth rot its just a matter of going to the vet and applying a small bit if fungicide. The abcessed tooth is a little different its an open wound. The vet will give him a booster shot and maybe some antibiotic cream. If you are using loose substrate (i.e. reptibark or similar) you might want to switch to paper towels or news paper because any moisture from the substrate could make an infection worse.

I agree with everyone here, you got to see a vet asap.

Thanks for the advance, I wanted to see how her mouth looked inside, yet I didn't want to inflict more stress in her by trying to open her mouth myself, I'll let the vet do it.
