I got sold a hatchling three toed box turtle as a much more expensive desert box turtle. The picture was of a desert, as was the description and listing, yet the baby was actually a three toed, which is half the price and much easier to find. I would have returned it, but numerous reviews claim when you send them back animals they say they never got them and you don't get your money or your animal. They don't use paypal so no refunds. Too bad the baby failed to thrive and DIED, despite my efforts -- maybe I should have attempted to send it back. I also got an Asian box turtle from them. She was starving and skinny and awful! These days she eats like a pig, and she's my pride a joy. Anyways, the guy was a jerk when I called him on the scam. Never deal with them!

I asked for a refund, and it took another two days for the money to be returned to me, but when it did, $8.33 were missing. I understand that both the delay in refunding the money and the missing amount may have been the result of PayPal processing, but I blame it entirely on Backwater Reptiles, who should have updated their website to indicate that they were out of stock. No respectable seller does that. I posted a comment on their Facebook page, describing my experience with them. Within an hour, they deleted the comment and blocked me. That's so dishonest.
Not to mention that they do not provide a contact number; they can only be contacted via email or fax, which leaves the customer at their merci.

paypal allows sellers to reimburse buyers so no fee is taken, now only if I saw this 6 months ago...

I read a lot of bad reviews on these guys. I decided to go local for my first bp, but I did notice no phone number and I didn't like that.
